answers on the question about "Figures of Orality"

1. How does food become the center of power relations between master and slaves?
     >>Slaves depend too much on their masters, they cannot live without them for slaves do not have any money or property with them.  They depend their shelter, protection, clothes and most especially their foods to their master.  Without their master providing them food, they would most probably die of hunger.  So through means of food, the master has a strong hold of their slaves for they know that they can scare their slaves through giving them not enough food whenever they are not contented with their slave's performance.  Being a slave, you would perform your task well to be able to have good food as payment for you services.  Food can be one of the instruments a master can use to show their slave how powerful they can be towards them.

2. How is food associated with a mother?
    >>A mother provides her child with milk which an infant needs in her first few months in the earth in order to survive. Just like how a slave in independent to his master, a child is also independent to his mother for survival.  Indeed, a mother provides her child with food that the child needs in order to live, but she does not only feed her child with food but she also nourishes her child with everything he needs to learn in life just like the values her child would be needing in the future.  In short, a mother feeds her child with a life, a good life for the future for no mother would feed her child with negative things, instead, she would give her everything she needs to live a good life.
